COMING SOON...SUMMER HOURS

Just a reminder -- beginning Memorial Day weekend (May 25th) and going thru Labor Day weekend, the 11:00 AM service will move to 10:00AM.
CONSTRUCTION RELATED CLOSINGS and CHANGES BUILDING ENTRY
Our entrances are on the south side (from the new parking lot) leading to the upper level, and on the lower level of the north side. The only access between floors for the present time is the center staircase in the Gathering area. When you enter the building from the north, follow the hallway to reach the meeting rooms and fellowship hall on the lower level, and the staircase up to the worship area and offices.
ACCESSIBILITY
The upper level is accessible from the south entrance. The lower level and fellowship hall are accessible from the north entrance. Accessible restrooms are available on both floors. The elevator will be out of service through June.
BUILDING KEYS
Old keys will no longer work. If your ministry or group requires a key that opens meeting and storage rooms, you will need to contact the church office to arrange to pick up (and sign for) a new one. For exterior doors: we are in the process of converting to an electronic locking and alarm system, for which a card key will be required. Those who should have access to the building on evenings and weekends will need to come to the office to have a card key assigned for the correct doors and times.

Community Adult Day Care is a not-for-profit organization that provides a pleasant environment for adults needing daytime care. Our daily activities include recreational, social, intellectual and spiritual programs. At this time we have an opening for a friendly, energetic person who can work flexible hours, and enjoys working with senior adults. For more information, please call Karen Swanson at 630-968-1060.
HONOR MOTHERS EVERYWHERE
SPONSOR A BRIDGE FAMILY
This
Mother’s Day marks the one year anniversary of Gloria Dei’s “Sponsor
a Bridge Family” Program. Thanks to the wonderful support and
generosity from many of you, thousands of dollars have been raised
toward this valuable outreach ministry. One of our families (mom
Susan* and her 10 year old son Greg*) will successfully leave the
two-year program in June. They have made a great deal of progress
toward debt-reduction and savings and we’re hopeful that they’ll
reach their goal of self-sufficiency as they move out to an
independent apartment.
As we start the process this month of interviewing a new family to move into the soon-to-be vacant Bridge apartment, your continued support is essential to the success of Gloria Dei’s Bridges Program! In honor of Mother’s Day this month, sign up on the blue sheet to sponsor a family in honor or in memory of your mom, or another special mom in your life. The cost to Gloria Dei for one Bridge family is about $26 per day, but any amount will be appreciated to help sponsor our families. The names of donors (and those being honored if applicable) will be noted in the bulletin.
Stay tuned to the Visitor and bulletin for more updates regarding this program. If you have questions, please call Karen A., cell or call the church office 630-968-6231.
USHERING OPPORTUNITIES
Looking for an opportunity to be active in the church? Consider participating on one of our usher teams. High School youth and older are eligible, and usher teams are responsible for 8 to 10 services each year. We are particularly in need of individuals who can support the 11:00 a.m. Sunday services. Please contact Joe J. at home, email jirka-jf@comcast.net or call the church office 630-968-6231 if you are interested.
FILL OUR SPACE
We have had a great outpouring of gifts for furnishings and equipment needed in the new and remodeled portions of the building. If you’d like to mark a special occasion or are just ready to make a contribution beyond your regular offering, please consider this fund as a possibility. Undesignated gifts in any amount are welcome. Particular needs for designated gifts include:
• Stacking Chairs ($60 apiece for Fellowship Hall, $95 apiece for upholstered version for upper level)
• Coffee-making Equipment for New Kitchen (Upward of $2,000 for plumbed-in type that meets DuPage County standards).
• Flat-Panel Announcement Screen for Gathering Area ($2,000).
FLOWERS FOR SHUT-INS

Each week after church, the Altar Guild arranges for our Altar Flowers to be delivered to people who are hospitalized or homebound. Would you volunteer to make a delivery now and then? Please use the blue sheet to show the Altar Guild you are willing, and they will call you about the schedule.
LUTHERAN OUTDOOR MINISTRY CENTER
Today
we are highlighting camp activities at LOMC. Please stop and see the
display in the gathering area.

We are asking everyone to please check their records to see if they have paid for their Sunday Altar Flowers, Poinsettias and Easter Lilies. They are all at a cost of $15 each. If you need to pay, you may use a blue pew envelope or drop off at the church office. Thank you for checking!!
