
1. The Sun is a prophetic symbol for the Messiah. "But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness shall rise, with healing in its wings."
2. The Latin Cross is the ancient instrument of torture and shame. It has become, for Christians, the symbol of victory over death and salvation in Christ.
3. The Dove represents the Holy Spirit. The scriptural basis for this symbol may be found in the story of Jesus' baptism when the Spirit descended as a dove as recorded in all four gospels: Matthew 3: 13-17; Mark 1:9-11; Luke 3:21-22; John 1:31-34.
4. Patee Cross Within a Circle is the cruciform nimbus and refers to redemption through the cross. The circle represents eternity.
5. The Easter Lily represents the Resurrection, life after death. The lily bulb seemingly dies and decays, but at the proper time, it grows and blooms.
6. The Star represents divine guidance and favor. The five-pointed star, frequently associated with the Christmas star, represents the manifested nature of God.
7. The Empty Tomb recalls that on Easter morning, the tomb was empty, glorious evidence that our Lord had risen from the dead.
The Perpetual Light- The candle burning at all times in front of the window in the chapel signifies eternal life.
